하나님과 사람의 중재자로서의 그리스도

골2:18 겸허한 척하면서 천사를 숭배하는 사람들이 여러분을 합당하지 못하다고 판단하는 것으로 말미암아, 여러분의 상을 빼앗기지 않도록 하십시오. 그러한 사람들은 자기가 본 것들에 사로잡혀, 육체의 생각을 따라 헛되이 교만에 빠져서

골로새인들은 천사숭배로 빗나갔다는 것을 기억하하십시오. 그러므로 바울은 그들에게 그리스도께서 모든 천사들의 머리이시고, 우리는 그분 안에 있으므로 우리가 천사를 숭배할 필요가 없다고 말하고 있습니다. 골로새인들은 하나님이 너무나 높으신 분이시므로 천한 인간이 직접 그분을 경배할 수 없다는 이단적인 가르침의 영향 아래로 떨어졌기 때문에 천사를 숭배하고 있었습니다. 이 거짓 교리에 따르면 우리는 우리 자신을 낮추어 우리와 하나님 사이에 중재자로서 천사를 숭배해야 한다는 것입니다. 이러한 식으로 천사를 숭배하는 사람들은 그들이 여전히 천사가 아닌 하나님을 경배하고 있다고 주장합니다. 그들은 단지 우리보다 뛰어난 천사의 중재를 통하여 하나님을 경배하는 것뿐이라고 주장합니다. 이 이단은 소아시아에서 유력하게 되었습니다. 그러므로 바울은 그들의 잘못을 지적할 부담을 갖게 되었습니다. 골로새인들이 중재자로서 천사를 취하다니 얼마나 잘못되었습니까! 하나님과 사람 사이에는 유일한 중재자 곧 사람이신 그리스도 예수께서 계십니다.(딤전2:5) 골로새인들은 모든 천사들의 머리이신 분 안에 있고, 그분 안에서 충만해졌기 때문에 아무것에도 부족하지 않았습니다. 그들에게는 천사가 중재자가 될 필요가 없었습니다. 천사들은 우리를 섬기고, 우리를 보호하는 자들일 뿐이며, 우리와 하나님 사이의 중재자가 아닙니다.

Words of Ministry
Remember that the Colossians had been led astray to the worship of angels. Therefore, Paul told them that since Christ is the Head of all the angels and since we are in Him, there is no need for us to worship angels. The Colossians were worshipping angels because they fell under the influence of the heretical teaching that God is too exalted to be worshipped directly by lowly human beings. According to this false doctrine, we must humble ourselves and worship the angels as mediators between us and God. Those who worship angels in this way argue that they are still worshipping God, not idols. They claim simply to be worshipping God through the mediation of angels, who are superior to us. This heresy became prevailing in Asia Minor. Therefore, Paul was burdened to point out their error. How wrong the Colossians were in taking the angels as mediators! There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5). Since the Colossians were in the very One who is the Head of all angels and since they had been made full in Him, they were not short of anything. They had no need of angels to be mediators. Angels are to serve us and to protect us, but they are not mediators between us and God.
